Family life has changed over the last twenty years. More than one in three marriages now end in divorce. Many couples now live together without becoming husband and wife. Children often now live not with mum and dad, but one parent only. There is a greater level of assets and property – but more to fight over if things go wrong.

And the law too has changed.

We can provide expert advice about:

raising or defending court actions for divorce, the grounds involved and the evidence necessary to prove your case

parenting arrangements for your children – with whom should they live, how and when (or whether) the other parent should see them, and other important factors in their welfare

payment of maintenance to or by your spouse or former partner

dividing up the family property such as the house and contents, life policies, pensions, car, savings and investments

payment of aliment to your children and the involvement of the Child Support Agency

adoption hearings and childrens panel

drawing up a separation agreement to record the points agreed between you without the need for court action

We encourage constructive settlement of these, and other issues but do not shirk from court action if necessary. Above all, our advice is professional but sympathetic in what we recognise is a distressing and difficult time.
